Sports-led social impact agency Maikai has launched the FutureFit Programme, a transformative opportunity for businesses to upskill the talent pool within their organisations. Drawing funding from Apprenticeship Levy contributions, it directs money that would otherwise go unused into training and upskilling staff, equipping them with the critical skills required in today’s fast changing business landscape. The FutureFit Programme can also direct funds into partners within an organisation’s local community, helping stakeholders meet their learning and development needs.

David Ellis, Chief Executive of Maikai said: “The aim of the FutureFit Programme is to deliver better outcomes for businesses, their people, as well as the communities in which they operate, by providing essential skills training. The UK is facing an unprecedented skills shortage, which if not addressed is estimated could cost the UK economy £120bn a year in lost output by the end of this decade. Simply put our workforce does not have the necessary skills for the jobs of tomorrow and yet it is estimated that £1.1bn of Apprenticeship Levy goes unspent every year; the opportunity for business to use those funds for good is enormous.”

The FutureFit Programme will work with the country’s leading education providers of skills in digital and data, leadership, operations, marketing and content creation.  All pioneers in their respective fields that excel in attainment scores, course completion rates and successful transitions into full time employment, they have been carefully selected to meet the skills demands of today and tomorrow.

Richard Cotton, Co-Founder of Maikai added: “The FutureFit Programme is an opportunity to transform the lives of thousands of young people through education and employment. It is a compelling proposition that puts existing funds to good use and make an impact that matters.”
